Pennisetum are a genus of plants within the Poaceae family, native to Ethiopia. They are commonly referred to as ‘fountaingrasses’. The appearance and structure of Pennisetum inspired the genus name, the Latin term, ‘penna’, meaning feather and ‘seta’ meaning ‘bristle’.
Pennisetum are annuals, perennials and evergreen or deciduous grasses that will either clump or spread in habit. Slender leaves majestically arch and sway with stunning bristly flowering panicles.
