Forsythia is a genus in the olive family Oleaceae, native to both Eastern Asia and Europe. The name Forsythia is named after Scottish Botanist, William Forsyth (1737-1804) who was both a founding member of the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) and a head gardener for the Royal family.
Forsythia are deciduous spring flowering shrubs with neat clusters of delicate, open-mouthed blooms that beautifully decorate dark, thick, yet slender stems. Forsythia’s are nicknamed the ‘Easter Tree’ as their branches look to wave in praise of the resurrection of Jesus.
