Tell Me More...
Forsythia x intermedia 'Mikador' has been bred to be a compact variety of its much-loved cousin. As with others, flowers appear in March to April, before the leaves emerge, and spread their vibrant colours throughout the awakening spring garden. Stems are fantastic for cutting too and will bring the joys of season into your home. This exciting variety will happily grow in a container if you have a space on your patio or balcony which needs an injection of early colour. Forsythia x intermedia 'Mikador' can even be grown as hedging - the foliage emerges in April and remains until October to give valuable, low screening.Plants prefer a site in full sun or part shade which benefits from well-drained soil. Forsythia x intermedia 'Mikador' is drought tolerant once established and will even thrive in gravel gardens or rockeries. A hardy, deciduous shrub which tolerates temperatures as low as -15 C and reaches a maximum height and spread of 1m.
