Cornus

History and Origin:

Cornus is a genus within the Cornaceae family, native to temperate regions of north America, China and Japan. Cornus is a Latin word meaning ‘horn’.

About:

Cornus are deciduous shrubs or trees that fashion brightly coloured stems and gentile clusters of tiny blooms from late spring, with some varieties showcasing bright red summer berries, an attractive feature for passing wildlife. The bright green and deeply veined foliage make a great addition to a shady woodland area or wildlife garden, turning a deep shade of red in the autumn.
