The Best Midlands Autumn Walks
The people of Britain have really been enjoying a good walk in the midst of all the Corona Virus madness; it helps people disconnect, and the open air feels like the safest place to be right now. Our usual weekend activities are restricted, forcing people to get up and explore the space around them. Here at Hayloft we think it’s fantastic and we want to inspire people to continue through Autumn and Winter.
Autumn is a truly wonderful time of year, full of breath-taking colour and magical scenery. Scarlet and gold leaves carpet the grass, creating a warm and whimsical play area for the wildlife. The trees are all dressed up in their carnival clothes as they laugh and dance in the breeze, bringing a sense of joy to all those who dance among them. An earthly aroma fills the air as the seeds beneath the soil sit patiently waiting for springtime to arrive. There is no better time of year to explore the beautiful British countryside, so we hope this little list of the best walking locations at the heart of England inspires you to do just that.
Worcestershire
Hayloft plants was born and bred in Worcestershire, and my gosh there are some gems on our doorstep. The Clent Hills are a great choice if you’re searching for a little bit of peace and tranquillity.
If its views you’re looking for, look no further than Coughton Court. There are a number of fantastic trails to choose from, whether you’re a family looking for a gentle scenic stroll or a challenge seeker ready to tackle a 6-mile circular walk. The beautiful bluebell wood and views of the breath-taking Studley Castle are the highlights for us, but you might enjoy visiting the former Church of St. Leonard’s or Kinwarton Dovecote. If it’s the court itself you fancy a nosey around, they recommend you book when visiting on weekends
Warwickshire
The local history fans amongst you will revel in the opportunities to learn at Baddesley Clinton. Check out the estate walk and wonder through St Michaels Church and Church field, head to the two historic homes, and then enjoy a calm canal stroll before you pop over to Packwood for the famous Welly Walk- a grandchild favourite.
Shropshire and Staffordshire
A personal favourite of mine has to be the Wildlife Walk at Attingham, for one reason and one reason only, the Deer Park. Who wouldn’t want to enjoy the beautiful parkland of the great Attingham estate whilst gawking at delightful deer? If you can drag yourself away from them, the walk also features a wonderful walled garden and finishes at the quirky heritage gem that is the Ice House. Along the way you should spot ducks, swans, otters, dragonflies, and the bees hard at work the observation hive. The kiddies will love the Tree-mendous Trail as they make bark rubbings and play tree detective, before heading to the Field of Play for even more outdoor fun.
