By mid-late March, spring is well underway and we are greeted with increased sunlight and a little more warmth. The warmer weather spurs rapid growth in our gardens and we see exciting changes in our flower beds and borders daily.

Job 1 and 2- Planting and Cutting back

- Plant herbaceous perennial plants and summer-flowering bulbs of your choice.
- Cut back faded perennials.

Job 3 and 4- Dividing Perennials and Weed Removal

- Divide clumps of perennial plants that you wish to propagate that have outgrown their planting area.

- Remove weeds as you see them as they can become prevalent during this time of year.

Job 5 and 6- Drainage and Climbers

- Improve the drainage of your soil by amending it with a generous amount of organic matter or grit.

- Support climbing plants or those that you wish to train as they start to grow.

Jobs 7 and 8- Water and Removal of Winter Protection

- Provide water to plants that are looking a little dry, especially those that are planted in containers.

- When the weather becomes a little warmer and all signs of frost have passed, you may wish to remove fleece and straw to prevent plants from sweating and ultimately rotting.

Job 9- Plant Perennials

- Plant gorgeous perennial plants such as Cyclamen, Salvia, Delphinium, Roses and Callicarpa.
