Garden Inspiration
Tell Me More...
This popular foliage plant is deservedly a winner of the RHS Award for Garden Merit. Artemisia schmidtiana ‘Nana’ is a Japanese wormwood variety with lovely silky leaves complimented by gentle camphor scent. Sure to brighten your garden with a scintillating display of hairy, silver-green foliage - the fine, lacey leaves grow in a rounded, compact mound. In UK climates, this plant is semi-evergreen so your artemisia may die back in November and re-emerge the following February. This dwarf variety makes an intriguing addition to the front of your border or a patio container as well as being beneficial groundcover under large shrubs and adding interest to a rockery or stone wall. From June to August, racemes of small, yellow blooms may occasionally appear on your artemisia, but it is the shimmering foliage which remains the star attraction. Plant Artemisia schmidtiana ‘Nana’ in well-drained soil with full sun and any soil except heavy clay. A hardy, drought tolerant, herbaceous perennial which reaches a height of 15cm with a spread of 30cm.
