A wonderfully handsome evergreen showstopper, Loropetalum chinense var. rubrum ‘Fire Dance’ is the perfect addition to your winter garden offering colour and sweetly fragrant, tassel-shaped flowers from February to April each year. Blooms appear alongside waxy, heart-shaped purple foliage which is retained all year. The scented, cerise-coloured blooms cover the dark foliage throughout the late winter and early spring, creating an eye-catching contrast in borders and containers. The foliage is dense and bushy - if desired, stems can be trained and shaped against a wall, trellis or obelisk. Alternatively, plant ‘en masse’ as a impactful low screen or hedge which can also be cut for a vase inside your home. Loropetalum chinense var. rubrum ‘Fire Dance’ prefers to be grown in humus-rich, moist but well-drained soil of any kind except heavy clay. Position in sun or partial shade, ideally with a south or west facing aspect. Growing to a height and spread of approximately 1m ‘Fire Dance’ is a hardy shrub (H4), which will grow happily outside all year.
