Malva sylvestris 'Blue Fountain' is a striking new addition to the common mallow family, beloved for its profusion of delicate, saucer-shaped flowers in a captivating shade of soft lavender-blue. These blossoms form a graceful fountain-like display atop tall, slender stems, creating a charming focal point in cottage gardens and perennial borders from June to October.
A hardy (H5) shrub which thrives in and south or west facing aspect, in full sun or partial shade, it prefers to be planted in any well-drained soil with regular moisture. Known for its long flowering period, Malva attract bees, butterflies, and other pollinators with their nectar-rich blooms. The plant's bushy habit and vigorous growth make it ideal for filling gaps in garden beds or naturalising in meadow-like settings.
Low-maintenance and resilient, Malva sylvestris 'Blue Fountain' requires minimal care once established, and will reach a height of around 1m, spreading to 50cm. Its semi-evergreen foliage remains green throughout the growing season, adding texture and depth to garden landscapes.
