Garden Inspiration
Tell Me More...
This unusual and exciting native of the Canary Islands will illuminate your summer garden with a blazing bonanza of fiery flowers. Lotus maculatus x berthelotii ‘Fire Vine’ is a tender (H2), evergreen perennial which produces a myriad of cascading, finely cut, needle-like blue-green foliage. When this illuminating plant matures wonderous flame-like blooms emerge - usually from May to September – adding a rare and exotic touch of the tropics to your planting. A truly magical plant for a hot and heady display, we have little doubt it will make your containers, baskets or window boxes take pride of place this season. Lotus maculatus x berthelotii ‘Fire Vine’ thrives in full sun or partial shade and prefers a spot in well-drained soil of any kind except clay. Plants mature to a height of 20cm, trailing to around 40cm, and spreading to approximately 40-60cm. Protect this special perennial over winter in a heated greenhouse or conservatory then move outside again when temperatures reliably climb above 0-5°C again.
