Garden Inspiration
Tell Me More...
Kniphofia 'Orange Vanilla Popsicle' is a neater, mound-forming variety of kniphofia. The Popsicle series were developed to offer more petite plants for those of us who love the species but garden in smaller spaces. These are the perfect solution and will even grow in a container on a patio or balcony. Sword-shaped foliage emerges in March and is held until November each year for beneficial groundcover. (Leaves should be retained over winter then cut back after the frosts to offer some protection to the plant's crown.) In July strong, poker-like stems emerge smothered in deep red buds which lighten as they open to intriguing tubular blooms. Flowers mature and fade to near-white alongside the continual emergence of further buds and blooms - lending the flowers multi-hued impact right up until September. Perfect as a cut flower for the vase and drought tolerant once established. Kniphofia 'Orange Vanilla Popsicle' prefers a spot in well-drained soil which benefits from full sun or part shade. A hardy, herbaceous perennial which reaches a height and spread of 80cm.
