Heliotropium arborescens ‘Honey Blue’ is an astounding, bushy perennial with deep, delightful purple colours, alongside a sensational fragrance. This small perennial produces flowers in abundance from June to August with blooms poised in decorous clusters atop dark, deeply veined simple leaves. Like other heliotrope, Heliotropium arborescens ‘Honey Blue’ has a complex fragrance which has been likened to vanilla, baby powder, grapes or even cherry pie (hence the common name above). Whichever notes of the perfume stand out most for you – we can assure you it is showstopping and acts as a magnet for butterflies and other pollinators who are inevitably enticed in for a feast. Plants reach a height and spread of up to 30cm, making them perfect for a strategically placed container, hanging basket or the edge of a wall where their beauty can be most appreciated. Heliotropium arborescens ‘Honey Blue’ prefers to be planted in well-drained soil which is loam or sand based and positioned in full sun. A warm temperate (H1c), evergreen perennial which requires temperatures to remain above 5°C, therefore protect in a heated greenhouse or conservatory during colder months.
