From the recently developed Mariachi series of helenium which have been collated to represent the hot and sunny colours of Mexico and central America where these charismatic bands are both prevalent and popular. Helenium autumnale ‘Can Can’ is keen to high kick its way through your borders, containers and prairie gardens with flowers commencing in July and lasting right through to September time. Excellent planted in swathes alongside silvery grasses or positioned at the mid to rear of a border, blooms reach up to 80cm tall, with a spread of 60cm, and are a draw for bees, butterflies and other garden pollinators.
Plant Helenium autumnale ‘Can Can’ in fertile, well-drained soil of any kind and position in full sun with any aspect other than north facing. As a fully-hardy (H7) herbaceous perennial no additional winter protection will be required across the UK. Plants will die back below ground over winter and then return, reinvigorated, the following spring.
