This is the ever popular ‘Gin & Tonic’ plant which holds aromatic evergreen foliage, which when brushed against, releases a scent reminiscent of a freshly poured glass, along with a slice of lemon! The highly scented, starry blooms of the Philotheca myoporoides seem to almost sparkle in the sunlight when they emerge in spring and at intervals throughout the year. The long-lasting blooms are extremely popular with florists and make excellent material for a vase or bouquet inside your home. Philotheca myoporoides prefers well-drained soil which is loam or sand based and likes to be kept relatively moist whilst it establishes a good root structure, after which it is drought tolerant. Ideal for planting in containers and likes a spot in full sun, away from cold winds, with a south or west facing aspect. Re-classified as a tender, evergreen shrub this Australian native reaches a height and spread of 2 metres in maturity but can be gently pruned to size if it grows too large. Protect from temperatures below around 1-5°C to ensure longevity.
