Tell Me More...
Your garden will be awash with the sweet scent of almonds when Clematis armandii blooms in March and April each year. A beautiful vine which keeps its glossy, leathery, dark green foliage all year round becoming the perfect foil to contrast and highlight the abundance of star-shaped, sparkling, creamy white spring blooms. Twining over a wall or frame, each new leaf emerges with a bronze sheen. As with most early-flowering clematis, it does not require pruning, but should you wish to reduce it's size, just give it a haircut after it has flowered. Preferring to be placed in a sunny or partly shaded spot, in a container or in the ground, against a west or south-facing wall, in moist, well-drained soil, Clematis armandii will reach a mature height of 4-8m and spread to 1.5-2.5m. Hardy to -10 C, protection should not be required during usual winters.
