For drier conditions we love Dianthus ‘Haytor White’. This spreading evergreen has attractive grey-green foliage and, throughout May to October, continually produces masses of rounded double, pure white, fringed flowers. These make particularly good cut flowers due to their strong, straight stems, intense fragrance, and impressive vase life.
As a strong, low-growing evergreen, Dianthus ‘Haytor White’ is perfect for the front of a border or path edge. Its pristine flowers are ideal for an all-white scheme, or as bright accents to lift darker plants. We love seeing it jostle with lavender, eryngium, purple salvias and white foxgloves to form a subtle, steely display. Throw in a sharply contrasting acid-green such as Alchemilla mollis and the picture is complete. Alternatively, a pot of these scented beauties on a table will greatly enhance outside seating areas.
For best results grow Dianthus ‘Haytor White’ in well-draining, neutral to alkaline soil which benefits from full sun.
