Dahlia Dalina Maxi 'Starburst' flowers non-stop from July through to October and often longer until the first frosts. Bright and vibrant, the blooms are loved by bees and other pollinators. A wonderful addition to your cutting garden, Dahlia Dalina Maxi 'Starburst' will reach an approximate height of 30-45cm, spreading 30-40cm. You will have armfuls of blooms that will last up to 10 days in a vase inside your home. Native to Central America, Dahlia have been named the national flower of Mexico, where they were gathered in the wild to be eaten by the indigenous people. The long hollow stems were also apparently used as water pipes.Dahlia Dalina Maxi 'Starburst' is classed as a half-hardy herbaceous perennial. Forming tubers underground, they prefer to be in a well-drained soil, and prefer full sun, although will tolerate some shade. Hardy to -5 C, the tubers can be moved to a sheltered spot during colder weather. Deadhead as each flower finishes to ensure continual blooms throughout the season.
