Garden Inspiration
Tell Me More...
Dahlia Dalina Maxi 'Starburst Pink' flowers non-stop from July through to October and often longer – with blooms lasting until the first frosts. Bright and vibrant, flowers are loved by pollinators and make a wonderful addition to your cutting garden. Reaching an approximate height of 30-45cm, spreading 30-40cm with long, strong stems and armfuls of blooms which last up to 10 days in a vase. Remember to deadhead as each flower finishes and you will have plenty for inside your home as well as plenty for the garden. Native to Central America, Dahlia are the national flower of Mexico and were often gathered from the wild to be eaten by the indigenous people. The long hollow stems were also apparently used as water pipes. Dahlia Dalina Maxi 'Starburst Pink' is a half-hardy herbaceous perennial which prefers a well-drained soil of any type and likes a spot in full sun, although they will tolerate some shade. Hardy to -5°C, underground tubers can be lifted and protected in a frost-free environment during the colder weather. Alternatively, you can leave them in situ and cover with a mulch if the soil is very well drained and your climate is relatively mild.
