The genus name is derived from the Greek word ‘tri’ meaning three and ‘kyrtos’’ meaning swelling. Tricyrtis were first documented in 1776 by Swedish botanist Carl Thunberg.
Tricyrtis are perennial plants producing clusters of star-shaped blooms and mounds of glossy foliage, that flourishes from August to October.
