Sparganium is a genus of aqauatic flowering plants native to the United States and Canada. They are more commonly known as bur-reed and grow naturally in wet areas such as shallow marshes, ponds and streams.
Sparganium are deciduous or evergreen marginal aquatic plants with narrow upright leaves and small flowers which bloom in summer. These flowers are then followed by prickly fruit in the autumn. They are well-suited to planting at the edge of a pond.
