Scilla

History and Origin:

Scilla is a genus of between 50 to 80 bulb-forming perennial herbs in the subfamily Scilloideae within the family Asparagaceae. They are native to Europe, Africa and the Middle-East in woodlands, seashores and subalpine meadows.

About:

Scilla are perennial bulbs with narrow leaves and star-shaped, flat or bell-shaped flowers which are very often blue in colour but can also be white, pink or purple and bloom in spring or summer, depending on the variety. They are great bulbs for naturalising.
