Oxalis

History and Origin:

Oxalis is a genus of around 570 species of flowering plants within the wood sorrel family. They can be found native throughout most of the world, but Brazil, Mexico and South Africa have the most native species. They are more commonly known as wood sorrel, false shamrocks, sourgrass, yellow sorrel or pink sorrel.

About:

Oxalis can be annuals or perennials with small flowers that bloom in summer above shamrock-like foliage. These flowers tend to close when the weather is dull and during nighttime. They are well-suited to partially shaded areas and are perfect for growing in pots and containers.
