Liquidambar

History and Origin:

Liquidambar is a genus of plants within the Altingiaceae family, native to China, Korea and Thailand, along with a range of warm, subtropical climates around the world. They are commonly referred to as ‘Sweetgum’, ‘Redgum’, ‘Satin-walnut’ and ‘American storax’.

About:

Liquidambar are deciduous trees with gorgeous maple-like foliage that adopt fabulous autumnal colour in shades of red, yellow and purple. Flowers are fruits will often emerge during the summer but are modest in comparison to its flamboyant foliage display. Liquidambar are best suited to as part of a low maintenance, architectural garden. You should expect to see this plant grow to an approximate height of 12m (40’) and a spread of 8m (26’).
