Erythronium are a genus of flowering plants within the Liliaceae family, native to Eurasia and North America. They are commonly referred to as ‘dog’s tooth violet, trout lily or fawn lily’. Erythronium dens-canis has had a long history of cultivation in Europe and was applauded by early garden writers, such as Englishman John Parkinson in 1629.
Erythronium are bulbous perennials with glossy foliage, bare stems and star-shaped blooms, each with beautiful curved petals.
