Dodecatheon

History and Origin:

Dodecatheon are a genus of plants within the Primulaceae family, native to North America. They are commonly known as shooting star, American cowslip and sailor caps.

About:

Dodecatheon are herbaceous perennials that are summer dormant. Neat rosettes of lush green foliage act as plinth for slender umbels of cyclamen-like blooms that flourish during the spring. They are best suited in flower beds and borders or used as underplanting of shrubs and small trees within a cottage, informal or rock garden. You can expect to see Dodecatheon grow to an approximate height and spread of 10-50cm (4-20).
