A fabulous way to fill your summer pots, with Osteospermum ecklonis ‘Tradewinds Yellow’ adding sunny, fresh displays for up to five months. Showy blooms are eye-catching above a mound of dark-green foliage. Soft lemon-yellow petals leading to a central lavender ring offer a sophisticated look. Pollinators adore Osteospermum and will hasten to their pollen-rich hearts. Blooms are borne from June to October, so versatile Osteospermum, also known as Cape or African Daisies, are an excellent choice for long lasting summery container displays and mixed borders. Plant tender (H2) Osteospermum ecklonis ‘Tradewinds Yellow’ in fertile, well-drained soil of any kind except heavy clay. Position in full sun with a south or west facing aspect and your plants will mature to a height of 40cm with a spread of 35cm. Add a handful of slow-release plant food to your compost when planting for an abundance of blooms and deadhead regularly to encourage continual production. Once established plants are drought tolerant. A South African native, Osteospermum can be protected from frost in a greenhouse or conservatory over winter and they will bloom again next year, some even survive mild winters outdoors in warmer regions.
