Tell Me More...
Weigela florida 'Pink Poppet' is a compact and elegant shrub which is perfect for those of us with smaller spaces - on balconies and patios or in courtyards and raised beds. Happy to grow in a container as well as open ground this daintier shrub lacks nothing in flower power. The vibrant, tubular flowers are produced in both spring and late summer each year, with spring being the main flowering season for these wonderful, drought tolerant and dependable plants. The pretty, pink flowers have purple and lilac hues to them for added interest and are complemented well by the dark green, simple foliage which is retained from March through to the first frosts. Unfussy on soil or aspect, Weigela florida 'Pink Poppet' likes a spot in full sun or partial shade. Plant with other smaller shrubs, such as hebe, in contrasting colours for a touch of frivolity or pair with bold foliage plants like hosta and heuchera for striking contrasts of form. A hardy shrub rated by the RHS as H6, so able to cope with the coldest of winters down to -20 C, growing to a height of 45-60cm and spread of 50-100cm.
