Tell Me More...
Unusual, exciting ground covering blooms which offer a carpet of dainty purple flowers from March to May each year. Dark green, heart-shaped foliage is also tinged with purple and is held all year round for intriguing interest beneath shrubs, trees and at the edge of woodland borders. Growing to a height of around 10cm with a spread of 30cm, Viola labradorica ambig. also thrives in pots, rockeries and borders and has a delicate, sweet scent - just perfect for a patio table or window box. Flowers are also pollinator friendly and vivacious naturalisers, eager to spread their joy throughout the spring garden. Plant with narcissus and primroses for a colourful display or with shrubs such as sarcococca for an abundance of foliage and soft, powdery, romantic perfume.Viola labradorica ambig. prefers to be planted in moist, humus rich, well-drained soil which benefits from sun or shade in any aspect. A fully hardy, evergreen perennial which does not require any winter protection.
