Tell Me More...
An enduring and easy-going beauty, Veronica longifolia ‘First Match’ bears flowers in densely packed spires from June to August. Great for adding upright, slender form to your borders or shapely interest to your summer container planting. Blooms emerge above low, compact mounds of dark, green foliage and reach up to 40cm tall. The sturdy, upright stems make ‘First Match’ ideal for including in a vase for inside your home. Outdoors, flowers are a magnet for bees and butterflies who simply adore the nectar rich blooms. Furthermore, the rich, dark, magenta pink hues of this beauty would look wonderful in a wildlife garden – adding depth and intensity as well as beneficial groundcover. Veronica longifolia ‘First Match’ prefers a moist, well-drained soil of any type except chalk based. Plant in full sun or partial shade and these hardy, herbaceous perennials will grow to a maximum spread of 40cm and will readily naturalise in the right conditions.
