Providing graceful, vertical accents, Verbascum ‘Lavender Lass’ bears upright spikes of saucer-shaped, pale lavender flowers with plum-purple centres. Plants flower for months on end, from late spring to late summer, and will be humming with appreciative pollinators throughout. Foliage is semi-evergreen, forming low, ruffled, dark green rosettes. Useful for ‘difficult’ areas, verbascum are drought tolerant and do best on poor soil with the added benefit of being resistant to slugs and snails because of its downy leaves. They will grow in more favourable, fertile conditions, though may well grow larger and need additional support. Suitable for cottage gardens, dry gardens, wildlife gardens and mixed herbaceous borders as well as containers. Verbascum ‘Lavender Lass’ prefers neutral to alkaline, well-drained soil of any kind except heavy clay. Position in full sun with any aspect other than north facing. A hardy, semi-evergreen perennial which reaches a height of 60cm and a spread of 40cm.
