Tell Me More...
Vaccinium corymbosum 'Dwarf Blue Sapphire' is an ideal fruiting bush for those of us with smaller gardens who still want to make their outside spaces productive as well as attractive. As a petite variety, this blueberry fits very neatly into a container for your patio or balcony and will still bring beautiful blue tinged, white flowers in March to May which are followed by delicious and nutritious berries in July. Fruits are perfect as a snack or added to muffins, jams and puddings (yummy). Oh, and they freeze well too. As if that's not enough, in autumn Vaccinium corymbosum 'Dwarf Blue Sapphire' gives a final flourish when leaves turn a vibrant red - a truly glorious display. Flowers are nectar rich and act as a pull for the pollinators.Vaccinium corymbosum 'Dwarf Blue Sapphire' likes a moist, well-drained acidic soil so use ericaceous compost if you are planting in a container. Ensure that you site your shrub in full sun or part shade for the best crops. A hardy, deciduous shrub which will grow to a height and spread of 60cm.
