Known also as Creeping Phlox, the low ground hugging habit is perfect to grow between paths and patios, or at the front of a border, in a rock or gravel garden, or tumbling beautifully from a container.
Popular in Japan, where colourful meadows of Phlox subulata has instigated the Fuji Shibazakua Festival, held each year between mid-April and early June, where visitors celebrate the sheer beauty of these plants.

Phlox subulata are deer resistant, drought tolerant, attractive to butterflies and happy in sandy soils - so perfect for planting in coastal conditions. Not fussy on soil conditions in either sun or partial shade. With an RHS hardiness rating of H6, they will thrive outside all year round with no winter protection required.
