One of the largest Tulip blooms. When you see the stylish Darwin Tulip Sweet Impression with unusual, variegated foliage, you are sure to fall in love. Huge, goblet-shaped blooms in shades of apricot and warm pink carry a glorious bronze sheen and almost appear to glow. Tall strong stems hold the blooms above striking variegated foliage, each leaf edged in white. A Darwin Hybrid, known to be very weather resistant. Withstanding wind and rain, they continue to stand proud. In the 17th century 'Tulipomania' took hold of Holland and in 1637 a single bulb of the rare Tulip Semper Augustus was priced at the same cost as a house on the most fashionable canal in Amsterdam at the time. Luckily, Tulips can now be enjoyed by everyone, as centuries later, breeders are continually working on producing new varieties including many with unusual shades and shapes. Plant Tulip bulbs in the autumn, around 15cm deep in well-drained soil in sun or part shade. Tulip Sweet Impression grows to an approximate height of 55cm and is a hardy bulbous perennial to enjoy for years to come.
