Tulipa 'Princess Irene' is so admired that the RHS has bestowed the Award of Garden Merit on it for a superb and dependable performance in the garden.Tulipa 'Princess Irene' grows up to 35cm in height with a spread of around 10cm per bulb. Foliage is strap-shaped and emerges in March before the flowers, remaining until June. As with all tulips, let this die back before removal as it replenishes the nutrients to the bulb ready for flowers the following spring. As an early flowering variety, 'Princess Irene' is perfect for lasagne planting and goes well with other tulips, iris or hyacinth for a long-lasting display.Prefers well-drained soil in full sun with a south or west facing aspect. A fully hardy, bulbous perennial.
