Dwarf tulip 'Pinocchio' is a member of the Greigii group, a division of tulips notable for their short stature and attractive broad, wavy, mottled leaves. The large flowers of 'Pinocchio' (10cm across) appear gargantuan in proportion to the overall height of the plant, resulting in a playful sense of the surreal. Flowers are single, bowl-shaped, and deep scarlet with ivory borders. This bold, diminutive delight is best seen in groups at the front of a border, in a natural drift throughout a rock garden, or as part of a spring-interest container display. Due to its short height, 'Pinocchio' can withstand a little more exposure to wind than taller tulip varieties. Originating from hot, dry habitats, tulips prefer fertile, sharply drained soil in full sun. Excessive wet will not be tolerated. H&S: 20cm x 15cm. Hardy bulbous perennial.
