A beautiful, double fringed tulip, with the top of the petals almost serrated giving the effect of a layer of fine lace. The large and long blooming flowers are full of petals in shades of pink with a beautiful sheen of lavender-mauve.Blooming in April and May, Tulip 'Newcastle' is drought tolerant and will happily grow in borders or containers, and make astounding, long-lasting cut flowers for a vase or arrangement within your home.Originating from hot, dry habitats, Tulip 'Newcastle' prefers to be grown in fertile, well-drained soil in a sunny or partially shaded position, away from strong winds - do not allow excessive wet in winter. A fully hardy bulbous perennial to -20 C it will reach a height of up to 40cm, spreading up to 10cm.
