Tell Me More...
The feathered plum-purple petals of Tulip Black Parrot are dramatic and unusual in the spring garden borders and pots in April and May.The large, flamboyant flowers appear to twist and turn as they fully open in the garden or vase - adjusting in colour and form almost daily on stems up to 45cm tall. These reliable, perennial bulbs should be planted in October to December in an area which receives plenty of sunshine. Plant bulbs 15cm deep in moist well-drained soil. Add some grit to the bottom of the planting holes if your planting area has poor drainage.Cut stems last for over a week in the vase and look fabulous when added to seasonal floral arrangements or a mixed with other Tulips in contrasting colours and shapes. When cutting, leave some foliage attached to the bulb to allow your plants to photosynthesise and ensure they return in future years.
