Tell Me More...
Thymus citriodorus ‘Lemon’ is not only a great addition to your kitchen garden, it also provides exceptionally robust, interesting foliage and flowers in your main garden too. Ideal for the edge of a border, a gravel garden or a container – anywhere, in fact, which will benefit from its small, fragrant, evergreen leaves and intense thyme and citrus fragrance. Thymus citriodorus ‘Lemon’ produces an abundance of lilac-pink flowers from June to August each year, drawing in the pollinators for a nectar feast. As well as this beautiful display, both foliage and flowers will release their delightful herby-citrus fragrance if they are brushed past or gently crushed – the enticing reason why it is loved by chefs as an ingredient for sauces, stews, fish and poultry dishes. Thymus citriodorus ‘Lemon’ is hardy (H5) and drought tolerant plant which prefers a site in well-drained soil of any kind except heavy clay. Locate where your thyme benefits from full sun and avoid acid soils. As an evergreen, it offers excellent ground-covering and weed suppressing qualities alongside its resilient nature. Plants will reach a height and spread of 20-50cm.
