The Perfect Aconitum collection comprises; Aconitum napellus – tall stems display bright blue blooms from June to August, height 1.2m, spread 60cm; Aconitum napellus ‘Album’ - crisp white hooded blooms in summer, height 1.5m, spread 75cm; and Aconitum carmichaelii 'Cloudy' – from July to October unusual, white mauve-flushed blooms with vibrant blue edges are produced, height up to 1.2m, spread 40-60cm.
Aconitum is native to the mountainous, meadowland and scrubland of Europe, North America and Asia. Once used in medicine as a pain-reliever, the stems give an unusual tone to cut flower arrangements within your home. Please note, as a precaution, wash your hands after cutting and whenever you handle these plants as all parts are toxic if ingested.
Acanthus prefer to be grown in moist, well-drained soil in full sun or partial shade. Fully hardy, herbaceous perennials with an RHS rating of H7, they will die back over winter, resprouting again in the spring.
