As beautiful as the woven fabric once reserved for ornamental garments, Symphyotrichum novi-belgii ‘Crimson Brocade’ is an autumnal centrepiece in any garden. Symphyotrichum hide away in borders, letting others take centre stage for a while. Then, in the last days of summer, they burst into a frenzy of floriferous activity. To the delight of your local pollinators, each plant will become smothered with an abundance of nectar-rich blooms – offering plenty for the vase as well as the garden. Also known as Michaelmas Daisies because they flower around the time of the saint’s day, at end of September. Symphyotrichum novi-belgii ‘Crimson Brocade’ reaches a height of around 90cm, and spreads to 50cm – creating mounds of colourful flowers to line pathways, brim over containers and illuminate a border.
