The ‘Superb Muscari Collection’ produces dense clusters of small, scented, bell-shaped flowers that bring a splash of colour to gardens in spring. Clustered on stems, their shape resembles a bunch of miniature grapes, hence the common name, Grape Hyacinths. Foliage is fleshy and grass-like, emerging several weeks before the flowers. A vigorous genus which will happily naturalise to create carpets of colour, perfect for deciduous woodland, grassland, or forming drifts in a border, also happy in containers. Pull the stems, rather than cut, to create pretty miniature arrangements for your home, lasting up to a week. This collection comprises; armeniacum ‘Julia’ – blue and white, sweetly fragrant blooms with ruffled edges, height 15-20cm, spread 10cm; armeniacum ‘Peppermint’ – pale, mid-blue flowers fade to white at the tips, height 20cm, spread 10cm; and armeniacum – bright, cobalt-blue, white-tipped bells are clustered on stems up to 20cm in length. To see muscari at their best, grow in moderately fertile, moist, well-drained soil in any aspect in full sun or partial shade. Hardy (H6) bulbous perennials.
