Explosions of coloured foliage Often referred to as Coleus, Solenostemon scutellariodes ‘Kong Scarlet' offers elaborate and eye-catching foliage which makes an inspiring addition to your summer planting. Use to offer additional colour to window boxes, baskets and containers or plant in the border for colourful, orchestrated edging. ‘Kong Scarlet’ even makes a great houseplant if you need a splash of colour in the conservatory or on a bright windowsill. The velvety foliage is tactile as well as eye catching. Plants are related to the mint family and originate from Indonesia. They produce small flowers of similar form to mint which, although not colourful, are attractive to bees and other pollinators and add structural interest. Solenostemon scutellariodes ‘Kong Scarlet' prefers a site in moist, well-drained soil which benefits part sun/part shade and has a south or east facing aspect.
