Memories of balmy sunsets and holidays will rush into your mind when your gaze at the rich, coppery-scarlet foliage of this arresting plant.Originally found in tropical and subtropical forests, the serrated, felty leaves on this attractive, tender evergreen will provide you with dashing colour all year. Perfect as a houseplant, solenostemon will equally make a brilliant addition to your container displays. This luscious perennial can also be used as summer bedding when temperatures remain above 5-10 C. Treat your tender solenostemon as an annual when planted outside, or keep your container-grown plant in a conservatory during cooler weather.Best in moist, well-drained soil, your solenostemon will thrive in a sunny or partly sunny, sheltered location. A biweekly application of nitrogen-rich fertiliser and generous amounts of water during the growing season are also recommended.For a wonderful bushy display of gorgeous coppery leaves, pinch back the tips regularly.Your coleus will eventually reach a maximum height and spread of 40cm by 30cm.
