Tell Me More...
A fantastic new variety for 2025 and the perfect way to create colourful foliage interest in containers and baskets. The tactile surface and intense colours of Solenostemon scutellariodes 'Redhead' blend magically to give an air of opulence to your planting. Eye catching enough to fill a container on its own, plants will also enliven borders, baskets and window boxes throughout the growing season. As an evergreen perennial, leaves should be retained all year, however, ‘Redhead’ is sensitive to the cold and will need to be brought indoors (or to a heated greenhouse) when outside temperatures fall below around 5°C. Other than this, plants are easy going and enjoy either sun or shade. Often grown as annuals rather than warm temperate (H1c) perennials. Plant Solenostemon scutellariodes 'Redhead' in fertile, well-drained soil of any kind with a south or east facing aspect. Overwinter indoors, perhaps as a houseplant, and return outside in late spring once the risk of cold has passed.
