Solenostemon 'Flame Thrower Salsa Roja' is a new introduction, bred to keep the foliage for much longer in the season than others in the family, it is classed as an evergreen, shade loving perennial.
Textured, narrowly serrated, deep burgundy-red foliage creates neat mounds. White blooms sometimes appear from July to September.
Known commonly as Coleus, or ‘Painted Nettle’, Solenostemon 'Flame Thrower Salsa Roja' will reach a mature height and spread of around 45cm. Grown for brightly coloured velvety foliage, position in an east or south facing aspect, in borders, baskets or containers. Plant in moist, well-drained soil and given the right frost-free conditions can be overwintered for the following year. Classified as a warm temperate H1C perennial, withstanding temperatures down to around 5°C.
