Solanum lycopersicum ‘Super Marmande’ is a French heritage variety of a traditional, beefsteak tomato with juicy, ribbed fruits from August to September. Recognised throughout Europe, the irregular scarlet-red ‘Super Marmande’ tomato is touched with pink on the shoulder and is firm-fleshed, meaty and bursting with flavour. Ideal for slicing into sandwiches or layering with mozzarella and basil, as well as cooking into a tasty ratatouille. Plants are perfect growing either in pots or open ground, and happy either in the greenhouse or against a sunny wall outdoors. Solanum lycopersicum ‘Super Marmande’ is a semi-bush variety which will need some support but does not need its side shoots ‘pinching out’ like cordon varieties. Plant in rich, fertile soil of any type except chalk based. Ensure the soil remains moist and position plants in full sun in order to ensure the sweetest fruits.
