Tell Me More...
Plants in the Stirring Cytisus Collection are certainly 'loud and proud' in their colouration, ready to set spring off to a vibrant, vivacious start. The perfect antidote to the colder hues of winter -beautiful, pea-like blooms emerge from March to May each year. Flowers have a sweet scent which drifts on spring breezes, accompanied by the hum of awakening bees and other pollinators who adore these nectar-rich early blooms. Foliage is small and simple, held on the long, arching stems from early spring through to autumn for prolonged bushy, verdant, vertical impact once flowers have faded. Stirring Cytisus Collection includes praecox 'Apricot Gem' - with warming orange-red flowers and a height and spread of 1.5m; praecox 'Allgold' - an AGM holding shrub with almost luminous golden yellow blooms and a height and spread of 1.5m; and x boskoopii 'Boskoop Ruby' - another AGM holder with rich, wine-red flowers and a slightly smaller height and spread of 1.2m. Fully hardy and hardy, deciduous shrubs which prefer well-drained soil in full sun and are drought tolerant once established. Locate in a south or west-facing site.
