Striking and architectural, Agapanthus are famous for their bold, spherical clusters of blooms over fleshy strap-shaped foliage, adding dramatic flair to borders and containers. Loved by florists, they make superb cut flower displays to enjoy in your home, lasting up to two weeks in a vase. The ‘Shades of Blue Agapanthus Collection’ comprises; ‘Fireworks’ AGM - white buds open to reveal white trumpet-shaped blooms with bright blue bases, evergreen foliage, height and spread 60cm; ‘Flower of Love’ AGM – for up to 10-12 weeks almost spherical flowerheads of dark blue trumpet-shaped blooms, height and spread 60cm; ‘Everpanthus Poppin Star’ – known for the long flowering period, clusters of mauve blooms with dark purple stripes create large flowerheads over evergreen foliage, height and spread 50cm. Dense, plump roots hold nutrients to allow this low-maintenance plant to thrive in poor dry soils, growing well in coastal areas, coping with salty, sea draughts. Native to South Africa, hence the common name, African lily, the name Agapanthus comes from the Greek words for flower and love.
