Tell Me More...
Serene Salvia are nectar providers with healing powers that will delight your local pollinators. A huge family of, they produce a myriad of open-mouthed blooms atop upright stems with scented foliage from early summer to late autumn. A wonderful plant to place near a path or seat where the sweet, sage-like aroma will be released when the foliage is disturbed. Much loved by bees, Salvia are incredibly floriferous and happy in either borders or containers. The word Salvia is derived from the Latin 'salvere' meaning 'to save' reflecting on the fact that it has been used medicinally for centuries. The Serene Salvia collection comprises 'Oriental Dove', microphylla 'Wine and Roses' and x jamesis 'Senorita Leah' which all grow to around 80-90cm tall, spreading to 60-90cmSalvia prefer to be grown in well-drained soil in sun or part shade. Being hardy perennials, they can be grown outside in well-drained soil all year round, with extra winter protection only required during the very harshest of weather. During milder winters it may keep its foliage.
