A fantastic way to introduce some muted yet magnificent blooms into the garden from January to May – adding colour and pattern at a time when, earlier on, interest can be sparse. The large, demurely nodding heads of this trio are held on long, strong stems - ideal cut for flower arrangements indoors. Blooms gracefully arching over serrated, richly hued palmate leaves and offer sustenance for early pollinators. These sophisticated plants will readily naturalise to bring you more blooms year on year. ‘Serene Helleborus Collection’ comprises x hybridus ‘Double Ellen White’ with generous double flowers in pure white with hints of zesty green; x hybridus ‘Double Ellen Pink’ another double bloom with ruffled, darker edges and painterly markings to each petal; and orientalis ‘Pretty Ellen Spotted’ a speckled, spectacularly marked double with reddish purple freckles to the interior. All three prefer moist, humus-rich soil which is not too sandy. Plant these woodland loving varieties in partial to full shade. The ‘Serene Helleborus Collection’ is made up of fully hardy, semi-evergreen perennials which do not need additional protection over winter and reach a height of around 35-50cm.
