What is more, the alluring, aromatic, evergreen foliage releases a sumptuous sage scent when brushed against. The accompaniment to the abundance of showy spikes, holding clusters of salmon-pink, open-mouthed blooms. Watch with pleasure as our pollinating friends visit for a feast and plant near a pathway or seating area so that you can enjoy the fragrance.Salvia have been used for centuries as a medicinal herb - said to have antioxidant effects and to stimulate brain function by delaying age-associated decline and improving memory. Little surprise that the word 'salvia' is derived from the Latin 'salvere' meaning 'to save'.Salvia x jamensis 'Seorita Leah' prefers to be grown in well-drained soil which benefits from full sun or partial shade. Growing to a height and spread of around 90cm, plants are hardy perennials, so do not usually require any winter protection in most of the UK.
